Paid Internship – Connecticut Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation
The Connecticut Institute for Resilience and Climate Adaptation (CIRCA), located at the Avery Point campus of the University of Connecticut in Groton, CT, is looking for a paid intern (Class IV Advanced Level Professional Training Position) to work between 10-15 hours per week with the Institute’s staff.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current UConn undergraduate student from Storrs or any regional campus
- Have the ability to travel to UConn Avery Point’s campus 1 day per week (There is an option for full remote for the right candidate.)
- Spanish proficiency with the ability to speak, write, and read fluently
- Ability to travel within the state periodically
- Good proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an office environment
- Demonstrated coursework or experience in environmental science, policy, engineering, or communications are a plus
Tasks
- Research on current events, reports, and available grants related to CIRCA’s mission and assemble into online monthly CIRCA Resilience Roundup Newsletters.
- Prepare webpages related to the CIRCA projects and data for the targeted audience.
- Convert and format written materials from English to Spanish by assuring cultural proficiency.
- Create, edit and proofread new text in the target language that reproduces the content and style of the original translated materials.
- Communicate effectively with project manager, assistant and team members, Be a team player and work collaboratively with other members of the team, project director, expert reviewer, and other entities.
- Attend meetings either virtually or in person, as needed.
- Work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Assist with administrative tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Hourly wage is $19.75 per hour. The position will begin as on an agreed upon date in May 2025 and go at least until August 24, 2025. If the summer is successful, the ideal candidate may continue to work for CIRCA through the fall and spring semesters with adjusted hours, if necessary.

- The names and contact information for two references. At least one reference should be able to speak about the candidates’ proficiency in reading/writing/translating Spanish.

The intern will have the opportunity to work with CIRCA’s Community Resilience Planners and the Associate Director of Research on the Resilient Connecticut project and other projects. The intern will learn how climate adaptation science, engineering and policy are being applied in Connecticut.
