CIRCA and the Town of Stratford are working together to develop a plan to reduce flooding risk. Rising sea levels are increasing the threats of flooding, with up to 20 inches of sea level rise projected by 2050. The planning effort in Stratford focused on the Lordship Boulevard Commercial/Industrial Area and the South End Neighborhood, spanning from Surf Avenue and Lordship Boulevard to Access Road, encompassing Main Street, Stratford Avenue, and Route 95. The Resilient Connecticut Phase III Plan engaged community members and stakeholders in a series of meetings from September 2022 to July 2023, with the Technical Advisory Committee playing a pivotal role in guiding the planning process and fostering consensus among stakeholders. The effort involved a comprehensive review of flood mitigation strategies outlined in the 2016 Town of Stratford Community Coastal Resilience Plan, feasibility assessments, and recommendations for feasible projects aligning with federal and state funding eligibility criteria and the town's coastal resilience objectives for the South End and Lordship Boulevard areas.
